Mass evacuations hit Russian universities after bomb threats VIDEO

At least nine universities in Moscow have been evacuated following reports of bomb threats, Russian media and local Telegram channels announced.

The institutions affected include the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, the State University of Education, Moscow State University of Sport and Tourism, Kosygin Russian State University, Moscow International University, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, and the Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting.

Students and staff were also evacuated from the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI).

The evacuations were prompted by bomb threat messages that were later found to be false. Inspections of the affected buildings are continuing, Ostorozhno, Moskva reported.

ASTRA reported that a similar evacuation took place at the Kurgan Basic Medical College. Meanwhile, several schools in Kirov — Nos. 22, 51, 48 and 53 — were evacuated following reports of threats.

Local Telegram channels have also reported mass evacuations at educational institutions in other areas of Russia.
