In Türkiye’s Mersin province, a gunman who killed six people and injured eight others died by suicide after being cornered by police in a house where he was surrounded.
Metin Öztürk, who moved across several districts carrying out the attacks, killed his ex-wife, Arzu Özden, in Çamlıyayla before travelling to Tarsus, where he opened fire at a restaurant, killing the owner, Sabri Pan and employee Ahmet Ercan Can, and injuring others, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
While fleeing, he also shot dead pedestrian Abdullah Koca, truck driver Gökay Sefiloğlu and 16-year-old shepherd Yusuf Oktay.
A major police operation involving special forces, helicopters and drones tracked the suspect to a rural house in Karakütük, where he was surrounded.
