Massive blaze erupts at Botaş gas storage site in Istanbul VIDEO
A massive fire erupted at a Botaş facility in Istanbul, affecting one of Türkiye’s key natural gas storage sites.
Dozens of firefighting units and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene as flames spread through the area, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Residents and workers in the vicinity were evacuated as a precaution, and gas supply to the facility was temporarily suspended. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The Botaş complex is located in Istanbul’s Silivri district, a suburban area on the city’s outskirts. The site contains underground storage reservoirs with a capacity of approximately 4.6 billion cubic metres of natural gas, making it one of the country’s most significant energy infrastructure facilities.
