Massive ISIS crackdown in Türkiye: Nearly 300 suspects arrested VIDEO

21 May 2025 11:09

Türkiye has launched its most extensive nationwide operation to date targeting the ISIS terrorist organisation, with coordinated raids conducted across 47 provinces.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the development on the social media platform X, providing details on the scale and outcome of the security sweep, per Caliber.Az.

“In the course of operations carried out over the past two weeks in 47 provinces, 298 suspects linked to the ISIS terrorist group have been taken into custody,” Yerlikaya said. “These individuals were active within the structure of the organisation and were involved in financing its activities.”

The operations also led to the seizure of unregistered firearms, a large cache of organisational documents, and significant amounts of digital material linked to ISIS.

“As a result of these operations, unlicensed pistols, numerous organisational documents and digital materials were confiscated,” Yerlikaya added.

The minister went on to thank the institutions and individuals involved in the sweeping crackdown. “I congratulate our Governors, Chief Public Prosecutors' Offices, the National Intelligence Organisation, Provincial Police Chiefs, Provincial Gendarmerie Commanders, and our heroic police and gendarmerie forces for their efforts,” he said.

“Unity, solidarity and cooperation in the fight against terrorism is our greatest strength. We are continuing our operations without interruption to guarantee the peace and security of our people,” Yerlikaya affirmed.
