Media: Armenia’s prosecutor general may be removed from post Over personal scandal

Armenia’s Prosecutor General, Anna Vardapetyan, may be removed from her post following the assault of political analyst Migran Akopyan.

According to Hraparak, the attack is believed to be linked to a recent social media post by Akopyan.

The post suggested a romantic relationship between the head of Armenia’s National Security Service, Andranik Simonyan, and Vardapetyan. The post has since been deleted.

Hraparak reports that members of the ruling Civil Contract party have long expressed dissatisfaction with the prosecutor general’s performance.

Sources suggest the recent events could be used as grounds to push for her resignation.
