Media: Armenia's ruling party weighs leadership reshuffle

27 June 2026 09:51

Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party is considering a broad leadership reshuffle amid a series of controversies involving senior members.

The newspaper Zhoghovurd reported that discussions within the party have focused not only on the leadership of the National Assembly but also on the future of several prominent political figures.

The party's governing board has debated changes to the leadership of its parliamentary faction. Current faction leader Hayk Konjoryan and secretary Artur Hovhannisyan are reportedly no longer viewed as likely to retain their positions.

The reported discussions come as both politicians face scrutiny over separate controversies.

Konjoryan has drawn attention following the publication of information relating to his assets and property holdings, while Hovhannisyan has been linked in media reports to a drug-related scandal.
