Media: At least eight killed in Israeli strike on Gaza residential building
At least eight people were killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building in the Sheikh Radwan area of northern Gaza City, medical sources told Al Jazeera.
Since dawn, at least 35 people have died across Gaza, including six seeking aid, with 25 fatalities reported in Gaza City as the Israeli military continues its operations in the area.
Gaza’s Government Media Office rejected Israeli claims that the high-rise buildings targeted in the strikes were being used for military purposes.
In a statement, it said the buildings were primarily civilian residences and that only civilians were permitted to enter them.
The office described Israel’s assertions as part of a “systematic policy of deception” and said the attacks constitute “forced displacement,” which it called a violation of international law.
The Israeli military said the building struck in Gaza City was being used by Hamas to "gather intelligence on Israeli military positions."
