Special forces from Azerbaijan and Iran recently conducted joint anti-terrorism exercises in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province.
The deputy commander of Iran's Army Ground Forces, Major General Kerim Cheshak, reported the event to ILNA.
"Based on the agreements reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, a one-day anti-terrorism exercise was held with the participation of a special purpose battalion in West Azerbaijan province to secure a dam on the Araz River, which is threatened by [conditional] terrorist groups," Major General Cheshak noted.
He outlined the exercise, conducted in four phases: reconnaissance operations with drones and helicopters, border patrols, setting up ambushes, and practising artillery and air strikes.
"These manoeuvres contribute to enhancing bilateral relations and ensuring regional security," he emphasized.
