Media: Georgia declines Armenia’s proposal to enhance trade coordination

18 July 2025 12:21

On July 18, it was reported that Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan requested the Georgian authorities to designate an official to improve communication between the two countries on trade-related issues.

According to Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper and its own sources, quoted by Caliber.Az, Papoyan proposed that “an employee of the Georgian Embassy in Armenia who would liaise between the Georgian side and Armenian producers, providing the latter with information on the passage of trucks carrying cognac and other goods through customs, queues, sampling of goods, and other issues.”

However, “the Georgian side refused Papoyan’s request,” the publication added.

Attempts to get a comment from the Armenian Ministry of Economy were unsuccessful, as the ministry “refused to comment on our report,” Hraparak noted.
