Media: Israeli F-35I pilot helmet lets users “see through aircraft”
Pilots of Israel’s F-35I Adir fighter jets have received a specialised helmet that allows them to “see through the aircraft,” according to The National Interest.
The feature is part of Israel’s modification of the American fifth-generation fighter. Standard F-35 pilots already use helmets that display critical flight information directly in front of their eyes.
Each helmet is custom-built to fit the pilot’s head, ensuring a secure fit under varying conditions, with a price exceeding $400,000.
For the F-35I, a new helmet model has been developed to integrate with additional systems unique to Israeli aircraft. It enables pilots to receive images from cameras and sensors installed on the jet.
The helmet system includes two miniature projectors that display the necessary information directly in the pilot’s view.
