Media: Israeli warplanes attempted strike on Tabriz Airport Iranian Air Defences Repel Attack
Israeli warplanes attempted to carry out a strike on the Shahid Madani International Airport in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz, but were successfully repelled by Iranian air defence systems, according to semi-official Iranian outlet NourNews.
The report stated that the attempted strikes targeted areas surrounding the airport, but that the city’s air defence forces intercepted and neutralised the incoming threat, Caliber.Az reports.
Authorities say the situation in Tabriz is now calm, with full control reportedly restored by local security forces.
There has been no immediate comment from Israeli officials.
The attempted attack comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel following a series of escalatory incidents in recent days.
Earlier, Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz has issued a stern warning to residents of Tehran following a wave of Iranian attacks on Israeli territory overnight.
“The blustering dictator of Tehran has become a cowardly killer, deliberately firing towards Israel’s civilian rear to deter the IDF from continuing its offensive that is crippling its capabilities," Katz wrote on X.
“The people of Tehran will pay the price, and soon,” he added.
