Media: Khamenei directs military action from command HQ

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is reportedly stationed at a command centre, personally overseeing ongoing military operations.

The information was reported by the Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen.

According to sources cited by the network, Khamenei, “as during the conflict in summer 2025, is at a crisis headquarters directing military actions in person.”

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed to NBC News that Iran is carrying out attacks on US military bases in the region as an act of self-defense.

"We are attacking American bases in an act of self-defense. We cannot just sit and watch as they attack us," Araghchi said, adding that Iran is "ready for de-escalation, but the aggression should be stopped first, and then there is the possibility of talks."

Araghchi also reassured that Iran’s leadership remains intact following the strikes. "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian are alive, as far as I know. All high-ranking officials are alive, everything is fine," he said, noting that "one or two commanders" may have been martyred.

On the question of regional support, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s self-sufficiency: "For the time being, we don't need anybody for our defense. We are capable enough to defend ourselves, and we will do that. We don't need the help of anybody."
