Media: Only 12 ships crossed Strait of Hormuz in 24 hours
21 April 2026 15:19
Only 12 vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours, as traffic through the narrow waterway between Iran and Oman remained limited.
Four of the vessels were sailing under the Iranian flag, while most of the 12 ships followed a route approved by Iran near the coast of Bandar Abbas, according to maritime tracking data.
Experts say Iran maintains tight control over transit.
Most of the ships that passed through the strait did so via the Iranian-approved route near Bandar Abbas.
Iranian state media have reported that some vessels require Tehran’s permission to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
