Media: Pashinyan may replace Armenia’s government chief of staff
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is considering dismissing Arayik Harutyunyan as head of the government staff.
The possible decision is linked to Pashinyan’s dissatisfaction with the performance of the election headquarters of the ruling Civil Contract party, which was headed by Harutyunyan, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Sources claim that the campaign team made a number of mistakes, including providing the prime minister with overly optimistic forecasts regarding the party’s chances of securing a constitutional majority in the elections.
Media reports have also suggested that Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister and former Armenian Ambassador to the United States, Lilit Makunts, could replace Harutyunyan as head of the government staff
Harutyunyan is currently on leave until July 24, a development that local media say may be connected to the anticipated personnel changes.
