Media: Russia could save stealth bomber project by joining forces with China
Russia could save the project of its prospective long-range aviation complex (PAK DA) by jointly developing a new strategic bomber with China, said Brent Eastwood, a columnist for the U.S. outlet 19FortyFive, said in an article.
He notes that both Russia and China are seeking to develop next-generation stealth bombers. China is working on the H-20 bomber, while Russia is developing the PAK DA.
“… both programs are portrayed as facing major hurdles, from engines and avionics to stealth coatings, timelines, and (for Russia) sanctions-driven supply constraints,” Eastwood emphasizes.
The author believes that Moscow and Beijing are reluctant to share sensitive technologies with each other, despite having overlapping strategic interests. In addition, he points out that linguistic and managerial differences between China and Russia could also become obstacles to cooperation.
