Media: Russia threatens to cut gas supplies to Armenia

Russia may stop supplying gas to Armenia from 1 November if Yerevan does not meet its political demands, Armenian newspaper Hraparak reports, citing Russian sources.

According to the newspaper, Moscow is demanding that Armenia stop discussing Russia’s 102nd military base and taking action against companies with Russian capital.

It is also demanding that Yerevan repeal a law launching the process of joining the EU or announce a date for a referendum.

The newspaper said Moscow was further demanding an end to the prosecution of politicians it describes as pro-Russian.

Russia is also reportedly demanding the appointment of a deputy prime minister acceptable to Moscow.
