Media: Saudi Arabia urges US to escalate military actions against Iran
Saudi Arabia has called on the United States to intensify military operations against Iran, The Guardian reports, citing a source within Saudi intelligence. According to the source, Riyadh is urging not just the continuation of the military campaign, but its acceleration.
A Saudi source confirmed a report by The New York Times, which stated that the de facto leader of the kingdom, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, urged Donald Trump not to end the war against Iran, describing the US-Israeli campaign as a “historic opportunity” to reshape the Middle East, writes The Guardian.
On March 24, The New York Times reported, citing a source, that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is encouraging US President Donald Trump not to scale back military actions against Iran. According to the source, the Crown Prince persuaded Trump of the need to continue operations and pursue the removal of the Iranian government.
Saudi Arabia has come under attacks from Iran. A week ago, a strike targeted the SAMREF oil refinery at the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.
