Media: Tehran agrees to partial uranium transfer
Iran has reportedly agreed to transfer part of its uranium stockpile to a third country.
Amid efforts by Islamabad to end the Iran-US war, Tehran has informed Pakistan of its acceptance to transfer part of its enriched uranium to a third country, Al Arabiya reports.
The development comes after Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni on June 5. The two met in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, where they are attending a Shanghai Cooperation Organization interior ministers’ meeting.
They discussed the latest regional situation as well as “issues of de-escalation and internal security,” according to a Pakistani Interior Ministry statement.
Naqvi has been involved in negotiations with Tehran as Pakistan attempts to mediate an agreement between the US and Iran to bring an end to the war, which began on February 28.
A few days back, the US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, claimed that Iran has agreed to negotiate aspects of its nuclear program that it had refused to discuss even a month ago, even as Tehran announced it was halting peace talks and moving to fully close the strait of Hormuz.
