Media: Tehran could make metro, BRT services free permanently

Public transport in Tehran, including the metro system and bus rapid transit (BRT) network, could become free of charge on a permanent basis if approved by the city council.

Parviz Sarvari, deputy chairman of Tehran’s city council, said a proposal to eliminate fares on metro and bus services is under consideration and would take effect following formal approval by the council, according to the Iranian news agency Fars.
