Media: Trump pursues Iran talks after allies sound alarm on war risks
US President Donald Trump has postponed planned strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, sources tell Bloomberg, citing pressure from Gulf states and concerns over global market stability.
Officials from the region, along with other US allies, privately warned the president about the potential consequences of such attacks.
According to sources, they argued that striking critical Iranian infrastructure could trigger irreversible damage, risking the collapse of the state once the conflict concludes.
Insiders suggest that the decision to delay the strikes may also have been influenced by attempts to manage oil prices. Reports indicate that the announcement came shortly before the opening of US trading markets.
Earlier reports confirmed that Trump had instructed the US Armed Forces to halt operations targeting Iranian territory for a five-day period.
Thus, Trump shared an update on Truth Social, stating that the United States and Iran have had "very good and productive conversations" focused on resolving their hostilities in the Middle East.
“I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East,” Trump wrote.
