Media unveil potential candidate for Iran's Foreign Minister
In the potential lineup for Iran's new government under President Massoud Pezeshkian, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's former deputy foreign minister, is being considered for the role of foreign minister.
Sources talking to Iranian media indicate that political advisers to President Pezeshkian favour Araghchi for this position, Caliber.Az reports.
Currently serving as Pezeshkian's foreign policy adviser, Araghchi has been involved in advising the president-elect during discussions with leaders of Islamic resistance groups and heads of state in the Middle East.
His candidacy is expected to be formally submitted to Parliament for consideration unless unforeseen developments occur.
Iran’s previous top diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, died in a helicopter crash on May 19 that also killed the country’s president.
