Media: US hit 20 targets in Iran during night operation
On the night of June 9, twenty targets inside Iran were struck, a senior US official told Fox News.
While CENTCOM said the US strikes have ended, it noted that the situation remains “active” and that the US military is ready to respond if Iran retaliates, the official added.
President Donald Trump described the strikes as necessary and “powerful” in comments to ABC News’ Jonathan Karl.
“I think it’s very important to respond. They shot down a helicopter, and we are responding as we speak,” he said.
The American leader noted that the move was a direct response to Iran’s actions, stating, "This is a response to what they did they did with our helicopter last night, and I believe the response should be very strong, very powerful, and that's what this one is."
