Media: Yerevan plans to spend $2.5 million on New Year decorations
The Yerevan municipality intends to spend 953 million drams ($2.5 million) on festive decorations across the capital.
A two-stage tender totalling 607.7 million drams ($1.6 million) has been announced: 57.6 million drams ($151,000) will go to branches and garlands for the main Christmas tree in Republic Square and trees in city districts, while 345 million drams ($905,000) are allocated for decorating the singing fountains area, the Christmas market, and the main tree lighting ceremony, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian newspaper Zhoghovurd.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan previously stated that the main tree lights will be switched on December 14.
Earlier in November, the municipality had estimated the expenses at around 600 million drams ($1.57 million); for comparison, decorations in 2024 cost 549.7 million drams ($1.44 million).
