Mehr: Iranian nuclear scientist and wife assassinated in home attack
Iran's nuclear scientist, Dr. Seyed Isar Tabatabaei Qomsheh, was killed alongside his wife, Mansoureh Haji Salem, in a late-night attack at their residence last week, Iran’s Mehr News Agency reports.
Dr. Tabatabaei held a master’s degree in mechanical engineering (2004) and a PhD in the same field with a specialisation in nuclear engineering (2007). He dedicated many years to working within Iran’s nuclear sector, though his profile remained largely unknown publicly, Caliber.Az quotes the Iranian media outlet.
The circumstances surrounding the assassination remain unclear, and Iranian authorities have yet to release further details.
Israel kiciked off its military campaign against Iran on June 13, resulting in killings of at least 11 high-ranking Iranian military officers and 14 nuclear scientists.
