Mehr: MiG-29 jets patrol Mashhad skies as Khamenei laid to rest

Iran's armed forces deployed Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jets over the northeastern city of Mashhad during funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Mehr news agency reports.

According to the agency, the fighter aircraft were conducting air patrols over the city to provide security during the funeral. No additional details about the operation were disclosed.

Public mourning and funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei, who was killed on February 28, began in Tehran on July 3 before continuing in Mashhad.
