Member of Armenia's ruling party, mayor attempted to slit throat of citizen
A member of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party, the mayor of Stepanavan attempted to slit the throat of a citizen who approached him on a personal matter.
Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media that lawyer Alexandr Kochubaev made a post on his Facebook account also sharing a photo.
“My client entered the city hall building for a certificate of incapacity for work and asked the mayor, and the latter's security service officers beat the citizen, after which the mayor tried to cut his throat with a knife. The injured party went to the police, but the investigation is delayed and physical evidence is not accepted," the lawyer posted.
"Probably the problem is that the mayor's name is connected with Defence Minister Suren Papikyan. I draw the attention of the competent authorities to the said problem and demand an effective investigation," Kochubaev added.
