MFA: Western countries refuse to extradite criminals to Russia

Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Tarabrin has said that several Western countries have stopped extraditing the wanted fugitives to Russia and execute requests for legal assistance in criminal cases.

The West has refused to extradite wanted fugitives to Russia 60 times since March 2022, Kommersant quotes Tarabrin as saying.

He noted that at least 28 decisions on refusal to extradite wanted fugitives were “made on political grounds”.

The diplomat did not specify who was not extradited to the Russian side, however, he called it destructive steps.

“Only criminals will benefit from such short-sighted and ill-conceived steps,” he noted.
