Minister: Azerbaijan pushes renewable energy integration across OEC region
Azerbaijan is developing two green energy corridors – Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Europe and Central Asia–Azerbaijan – to create a unified platform for cutting emissions across the OEC region, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said.
Speaking at the first online meeting of the OEC’s Clean Energy Centre (CECECO) Board of Directors, Shahbazov highlighted the importance of launching the Centre, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He noted that the initiative is also underlined in the final communiqué of the OEC’s 17th summit in Hanken.
“The Centre will support the development of renewable energy projects and the regional energy transition, strengthening both existing and potential partnerships between the central organisation and member states,” Shahbazov said.
He added that Azerbaijan is currently collaborating with three OEC members – Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan – on projects linked to the green energy corridors.
"These corridors are strategic initiatives designed to enhance regional energy connectivity and the regional electricity market. They will bolster energy cooperation within the OEC, integrate regional networks, and create a single strategic platform to achieve emissions reduction goals," the minister explained.
The Board also approved the Centre’s internal regulations and appointed Aysel Yagubova as executive director. The second Board meeting is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
