Minister: Georgia to invest $2.7 billion in transport infrastructure by 2032

Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili announced that Georgia plans to invest 7.5 billion lari (approximately $2.7 billion) in the development of its transport infrastructure, according to Georgian media reports cited by Caliber.Az.

She stated that the country is continuing its steady development in cooperation with partner states, with a focus on expanding infrastructure and increasing transit capacity.

Kvrivishvili specified that the investment program extends through approximately 2032 and will cover a wide range of major infrastructure projects.

“Approximately until 2032, more than 7.5 billion lari will be invested in transport infrastructure. This includes, of course, the construction of highways, the modernisation of the railway, the construction of a new international airport in Tbilisi, construction of the Anaklia port. All this will ultimately serve the main goal — it will allow Georgia to receive and process even more cargo,” she said.

The planned projects are aimed at strengthening Georgia’s role as a regional transport and logistics hub by boosting its capacity to handle increasing cargo flows.
