Minor earthquake shakes Armenia
A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2 was recorded early on February 24 near the town of Masis in Armenia, authorities said, with no damage reported.
The tremor occurred at 05:33 local time and was detected by the seismic network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service under Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to officials, the epicentre was located about 10 kilometres southeast of Masis, at a depth of 10 kilometres, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
The Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the intensity of the quake in the epicentral zone measured between 2 and 3 on the local intensity scale.
The tremor was felt in Masis as well as in the nearby villages of Mkhchyan and Dvin, with similar intensity levels of 2–3 points. No casualties or structural damage have been reported.
