More than 100 people were detained in the Turkish capital, Ankara, during an anti-NATO protest on the eve of the alliance's summit.

Demonstrators, organised by the Communist Party of Türkiye (TKP), gathered in Ankara's Kızılay Square, chanting slogans against NATO's presence in the country, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.

Police used tear gas to disperse the protest before carrying out mass detentions, the report said. According to the Communist Party of Türkiye, several of its senior members were among those arrested.
