Moscow calls latest IAEA resolution on Iran "disgraceful"

Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, has described an anti-Iran resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors as “disgraceful,” accusing Western countries of demonstrating a careless approach to the organization’s work.

According to the Russian envoy, the level of expertise demonstrated by Western countries has “sharply declined,” as reflected, in particular, in resolutions adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors concerning Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Ulyanov noted that the Board had already adopted an anti-Iran resolution in June at the initiative of Western countries, but returned to the issue less than four months later. He referred to an existing rule under which an issue should not be revisited for a certain period after a decision has been made.

“This simply shows how carelessly our former partners, now opponents, are acting. They are demonstrating complete helplessness, and the Board of Governors is doing the same,” Ulyanov said.

He stressed that the situation surrounding Iran requires a serious approach.

“And our Western partners themselves cannot do this, and they do not allow others to do it,” the Russian envoy added.
