Moscow: CIS summit in Leningrad Oblast to focus on informal talks, regional cooperation
The CIS summit in Leningrad Oblast has an informal nature, with no fixed agenda for the event, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing.
According to Peskov, the leaders of the countries may exchange views on matters of interest to them, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"This is an informal summit, and there is no set agenda," noted the Kremlin representative. "As a rule, heads of state use this opportunity to exchange opinions on current issues concerning the Commonwealth, as well as to discuss regional situations and bilateral relations."
The pre-New Year meeting is a long-standing tradition of the CIS. As announced by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, President Putin will summarize Russia's chairmanship of the CIS in 2024 at the summit, after which the leaders will engage in informal discussions and exchange gifts.
It is also expected that during the discussions, the CIS leaders will touch on preparations for the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in 2025.
All events are taking place near St. Petersburg, at the "Igora" resort complex in Leningrad Region.
