Serbia to open embassy in Tbilisi
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on December 18 that Serbia will soon open an embassy in Tbilisi, describing it as a platform for launching new business initiatives and strengthening political cooperation between Serbia and Georgia.
Vučić made the announcement at a joint press conference with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili following their meeting in Belgrade. He said that the talks covered all key issues in bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
“We have given concrete form to everything we have felt toward each other over the past period. We have established direct flights and launched direct air connections between Tbilisi and Belgrade. This is the result of economic and other forms of cooperation, and I am proud of that”, Vučić said.
He emphassed that the opening of the Serbian embassy in Tbilisi would further enhance bilateral relations.
“The embassy will be a real place where many business initiatives will begin and, of course, an opportunity to deepen political cooperation”, he noted.
The announcement comes as Serbia and Georgia mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. Honorary consulates have been operating in the capitals of both countries since 2019.
