Multiple Russian cities report damage after nighttime drone attacks VIDEO
Russia reported a series of drone and missile strikes overnight on December 19, affecting Oryol, Samara, and Rostov Oblasts.
According to Andriy Klychkov, governor of Oryol Oblast, the attack damaged municipal infrastructure in the city of Oryol, though no injuries were reported in preliminary assessments, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
“Due to possible temporary restrictions on heat and hot water supply in the Soviet District of Oryol, classes in educational institutions were suspended,” Klychkov said.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+, citing local residents, reported two separate missile strikes: the first hitting a thermal power plant and the second damaging transformer equipment, resulting in partial blackouts across the city.
In Samara Oblast, Telegram channels reported a strike on JSC TogliattiAzot, one of the world’s top ten ammonia producers. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed drone strikes on industrial facilities in Novokuibyshevsk and Tolyatti but did not specify whether TogliattiAzot itself was targeted. “The strikes were repelled, and emergency services are working at the sites where debris from the UAVs fell,” he said.
Rostov Oblast experienced further drone attacks. Governor Yuri Slyusar reported that in Rostov-on-Don, a downed power line caused disconnections affecting residential buildings in Bolgarbud and industrial consumers in the Western industrial zone. In Taganrog, windows and roofs of five private homes were damaged, and three cars were set on fire.
The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that 94 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight, including 36 over Rostov Oblast. The Ukrainian side has not commented on these claims.
