Kazakhstan’s energy firm refineries reach record oil processing levels
Kazakhstan’s state energy company KazMunayGas has reached a record-high oil refining and petroleum product output across its refineries, marking a historic milestone for the country’s downstream sector.
Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC KazMunayGas, said that over the first 11 months of the year the company’s refineries processed 16.6 million tons of crude oil—the highest level ever achieved, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of refinery teams, we have not only increased processing volumes but also significantly improved the yield of light petroleum products, ensuring stable fuel supplies for the domestic market,” Khasenov said.
By the end of 2025, the Atyrau Oil Refinery is expected to process 5.47 million tons of crude oil, with light oil products accounting for 77% of output. The refinery has completed scheduled preventive maintenance and continues to introduce digital solutions into its production processes.
The Pavlodar Oil Refinery has also strengthened supply after completing repairs ahead of schedule. It plans to process 5.76 million tons of oil by year-end, with light petroleum products making up an estimated 74% of total output.
PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP demonstrated the strongest performance in quality indicators among the country’s refineries. Its processing volume is projected at 6.23 million tons of oil, with a light product yield of 81.5%.
A major achievement for the sector was record diesel fuel production.
