Moscow court arrests Kalashnikov's ex-department chief in large-scale fraud case

A court in Moscow has ordered the arrest of the former deputy director for procurement and logistics at the Kalashnikov Concern in connection with an investigation into alleged embezzlement linked to a state defence contract.

The suspect has been charged with large-scale fraud under Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

According to investigators, the case concerns the disruption of contracts for the supply of protective equipment intended for the needs of Russia’s Defence Ministry. Prosecutors believe the crime was committed by an organised group.

Earlier, Kseniya Grashchenkova, the company’s former director for procurement and logistics, was also arrested. She is accused of abuse of power in the execution of the state defence order.

Both former top managers face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
