Moscow reveals EU position on Iran nuclear deal
Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Vladimir Yermakov has said that the resumption of the Iranian nuclear deal is still "on the table", which the European Union has confirmed.
"We have repeatedly emphasised the absence of a reasonable alternative to restoring full-scale implementation of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action], which has been undermined by the unlawful actions of our Western opponents who are constantly slipping into anti-Iran hysteria," Gazeta.Ru quotes Yermakov as saying on December 26.
He added that after the UN Security Council meeting on December 18, it became clear that the European Union (EU) was not going to completely abandon the project of a comprehensive solution to resuscitate the nuclear deal.
Before that, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that there had not been and could not have been any deliveries between Iran and Russia that violated the JCPOA on Iran's nuclear programme.
Earlier, the US secretary of state said that Russia and China now pose "the most acute threat to the world order" on the planet.
