Moscow sees “no grounds” to end S-300 deal with Kyrgyzstan
There are no grounds to terminate the agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on the joint air defence system, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has said.
The agreement entered into force in 2023, runs for five years, and is automatically extended unless either side decides to withdraw, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“As this agreement contributes to ensuring the security of both Russia and Kyrgyzstan, we do not see any grounds for its ‘dismantling’ at present,” Galuzin said.
For the deployment of air defence equipment, Kyrgyzstan has provided Russia with a five-hectare site near the Russian airbase Kant in the Chuy region.
Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile systems are among the assets stationed in the republic.
