Moscow to prepare and deliver ceasefire conditions to Kyiv
Russia will compile a list of conditions for a possible ceasefire and hand it over to Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced.
Speaking at a briefing, Peskov confirmed that a separate list of terms for a ceasefire would be prepared, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He referred to an agreement reached in Istanbul on May 16 during talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives.
“Undoubtedly, a separate list of conditions for a ceasefire will be prepared. This was agreed upon in Istanbul,” the Kremlin spokesperson said, responding to questions from journalists about the potential ceasefire plan. Peskov declined to provide further details.
Before this, Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's office, stated that Russia presented Ukraine with a series of demands for a ceasefire during negotiations in Istanbul.
According to him, these demands were read out from a sheet of paper by the head of the Russian delegation, Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky.
Podolyak reported that “Russia demands the surrender of territories in four regions: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.” Furthermore, he claims Moscow wants Ukraine to renounce participation in any military alliances, as well as its arms industry and Western weapons supplies.
Podolyak emphasised that Russia has made numerous demands that are “impossible to fulfil.”
