Moscow warns of retaliation as Hungary expels Russian diplomats
Russia will respond to Hungary’s decision to expel 10 employees of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
“Russia will respond to the expulsion of diplomats,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán announced that Budapest had ordered 10 Russian diplomats to leave the country. According to the Hungarian authorities, the diplomats had engaged in activities deemed incompatible with their diplomatic status under the Vienna Convention.
Orbán stressed that the decision did not amount to a break in diplomatic relations with Moscow.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has not provided further details on the nature of the response or indicated what measures Moscow may take.
