MP injured during rallies in Armenia
Artur Ghazinyan, a member of the "Armenia" opposition faction, was hospitalised on May 30 after being injured in a clash between demonstrators and police officers in Yerevan.
"Ghazinyan underwent a medical check-up and the doctors said that his rib was fractured. During our conversation, the MP confirmed that he was in the hospital, the doctors advised him to stay in the clinic," Interfax reports, citing Zhoghovurd newspaper.
The clashes broke out between opposition demonstrators and the police officers near one of the government buildings, in which several ministries are located, and 111 people were taken to police stations on May 30.
The opposition again held rallies through Yerevan streets on May 31 morning.
The Armenian Ombudsman's Office mentioned cases of police officers using physical force, including suffocation, against MPs during the detention of opposition demonstrators in Yerevan.
