Nationwide raid in Türkiye dismantles cyber fraud rings, hundreds detained
Authorities in Türkiye have detained 330 suspects in a wide-ranging operation against cybercrime, with 91 individuals arrested, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
The operations were carried out by the General Directorate of Security (EGM) in coordination with cybercrime units, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), and public prosecutors across 23 provinces, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
According to the ministry, the raids were conducted over the past five days in multiple regions, including Istanbul, Ankara, and other provinces.
The suspects are accused of involvement in various offences, including online fraud, illegal betting, phishing schemes, and unauthorised access to banking and gaming accounts. Authorities also reported cases involving the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Some of the detainees were placed under judicial control, while legal proceedings for others are ongoing.
