Nationwide raids: Hundreds arrested in Türkiye over ISIS links
Turkish authorities have detained 525 individuals in a sweeping counterterrorism operation targeting suspected links to the Islamic State (ISIS).
As TRT Haber reports, the coordinated raids were carried out across 56 provinces, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep and Diyarbakir. The operation was conducted under the coordination of the Counter-Terrorism Department (TEM), the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), and local prosecutors.
According to investigators, the suspects were previously involved in ISIS activities, provided financial support to the organization, and maintained contact with foreign terrorist fighters.
Authorities said that 88 of those detained were transferred to deportation centres and will be expelled as foreign fighters.
During the operation, security forces seized a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, cash, as well as organizational documents and digital materials, officials said.
