Turkish general highlights Türkiye’s counterterror successes within NATO
General Metin Gürak, Chief of the Turkish General Staff, has emphasised the Turkish Armed Forces’ successful implementation of operational capabilities in combating terrorism, which can serve as an example.
During the NATO Multi Domain Operations (MDO) Conference 2025 in Ankara, which is underway on May 20-23, the chief of staff noted Türkiye's growing role in NATO operations and defence technology development, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Organised by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT), the Conference brings together senior military officials and experts to discuss advances and cooperation in modern defence strategies
“Our operations exemplify modern military doctrines that integrate land, sea, air, cyberspace, and space domains,” General Gürak stated.
“We have made significant progress in effectively utilising unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare, satellite imagery, intelligence sharing, and cybersecurity measures. These achievements demonstrate the practical application of joint multi-domain operations within NATO.”
General Gürak also highlighted the importance of Türkiye’s cross-border counterterrorism missions, noting that these efforts have bolstered NATO’s overall deterrence potential.
The conference is expected to facilitate further collaboration and knowledge exchange among NATO member states, reinforcing alliance readiness in the face of evolving security challenges.
