Netanyahu says streets in Iran named after him
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that streets and public squares in Iran are named in his honour, saying they know that while Israel is fighting for itself, it is fighting for the Iranians too.
In an interview with CBS News, he noted that they call Netanyahu “Beloved Bibi,” Caliber.Az reports.
“They name public squares, and as soon as they put the [...] you know, they put the signs on the arch, the Revolutionary Guards tear it down,” Netanyahu stressed.
The nickname “Bibi” has been associated with Netanyahu since his childhood and his youth.
According to one version, it was used within his family; another suggests it originated during his studies in the United States.
Over time, the abbreviation became his most widely recognised public name internationally.
Netanyahu also said that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive but lacks the authority of his father.
“I think he is alive. What his condition is, it's hard to say, you know? He's holed up in some bunker or in some secret place. And he's […] I think he's trying to exert his authority,” the minister added.
