Netblocks: Internet shutdown in Iran enters 75th day
13 May 2026 12:57
A nationwide internet restriction in Iran has now been in place for 75 days, according to NetBlocks, an organisation monitoring digital rights.
The group warned that the ongoing restrictions are contributing to increased surveillance, corruption, and online fraud, Caliber.Az reports.
“The digital censorship measure has led to profiteering and a decline in digital security as government-backed "pro" internet schemes and selective whitelisting result in surveillance, corruption and scams,” the organisation noted.
NetBlocks emphasised that the prolonged disruption continues to significantly affect the country’s digital environment.
