NetBlocks: Iran’s internet blackout stretches into 68th day
06 May 2026 12:44
Iran’s nationwide internet blackout has entered its 68th consecutive day, with authorities maintaining severe restrictions that have largely cut the public off from global connectivity, according to internet monitoring group NetBlocks.
The organisation said the disruption has now lasted approximately 1,608 hours, with most Iranians unable to access the global internet and instead confined to a heavily restricted domestic network.
NetBlocks added that the general population has been “largely cut off from the global internet for around 70% of 2026 to date,” with some users reporting no external communication since the first major shutdown began in January.
