New head of Azerbaijani diaspora detained in Yekaterinburg PHOTO

Police, supported by a special operations unit, have detained the new leader of the Azerbaijani community in the Urals, Vidadi Mustafayev, following the tenure of Shahin Shikhlinski, multiple independent sources told E1.RU.

Mustafayev was reportedly apprehended at the entrance to the Iset Tower, where he was visiting the upscale Encore fitness club. Officers from the Department for Organised Crime and a rapid response unit were involved in the operation.

According to preliminary information, Mustafayev is suspected of fraud in connection with the sale of a plot of land.

Attempts to reach Mustafayev were unsuccessful at the time of publication, with his phone reportedly unavailable.
