New terminal at airport in northern Cyprus to open on November 15
The opening of a new terminal of Ercan Airport will take place on November 15.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Fikri Ataoglu made the remarks on August 21, TASS reports.
He announced the date of the terminal's commissioning directly during a visit to the airport complex under construction. According to him, by late September, the interior lighting system will work in the building of the new terminal. Currently, the process of increasing the length of the runway is underway, which will allow the air harbour to receive larger aircraft.
Ataoglu said that the new facility will increase the number of tourists arriving by air to the north of Cyprus through Turkish airports. He said that he had already discussed the expected growth of passenger traffic in 2023 with Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy.
In June, Ankara equated Ercan's status with Türkiye's domestic airports.
